BROSHA COLLECTIONS
Brosha Collections
BY EMMETT WILLIAMS
The Couture Millenary Art by the Designer known as Brosha, and whose collection we feature here,
evolved from inspiration, and her faith which, she feels strengthened her to carry the task given to the
top through her artistry. The girl, known for her looks earlier in life, was headed towards a promising
career that many thousands of American beauties shoot for and sometimes achieve.
Her dream suddenly came to an end as she fell victim to a car accident, caused by a drunk driver,
she was a passenger in the sports car. Not having the protection of a seatbelt,
she flew into the windshield, crushing all the bones in her face,
and then dramatically dying twice in the ambulance en route to hospital.
She endured decades of surgeries, plastic surgeries, and physical therapy.
Some tell her she is still attractive, and she wants to believe them,
and yet the scar tissue remains.
Through the years of her recovery she still had the ability to sketch ideas,
and she learned to focus on her visions which in the place of superficial surface beauty,
her mind conjures now laboriously detailed designs of her hats and the
meticulous processes by which they are created.
Initially crafted three couture millenary designs, which she calls
THE EGYPTIAN BERET, THE TURBIN, AND THE JAPANESE MUSHROOM.
From sketching the concepts, to choosing master-craftsmen, to color choices, photo-shoots,
with her friends like Photographer James L. Hicks, II, Designer Shang Coleman,
and like noted Designer/Author Douglass Says.
At times they comes together and pool their products and expertise and on occasion a new person,
will enter their close-knit circle.
Brosha Collections is launching a new website soon.
Her hats have been worn by the legendary singer Phyllis Hyman.
