FIRST FRIDAYS

September 2022

Candi Herbin a.k.a. Sugafoot and her band Eye Candy, performed live after Reggae Band Lion Tracks on Friday, September 2, 2022.

This was another cool First Fridays performance at the International Civil Rights Museum & Center in Downtown Greensboro, NC, 134 S. Elm Street.

Candi sang Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” to the delight of the crowd, some enthusiastically sang along….(no names).

A couple of us danced into the night as the event concluded. Our thing is strolling down to the Park and or Italiano’s Pizza, for good eats at reasonable rates. The Park though has good Hot Dogs. Sometimes we sit and listen to the various drum beats, or sit by the fountains. Sometimes we see kids tossing a Frisbee, or playing tag and having ice-cream cones.

The cooler evening air was a welcome change from the oppression of earlier heat in the day.

It’s usually a good night to bump into familiar faces as you move through the various downtown spaces.

Candi gave a thrilling performance as she sang samples from an upcoming event featuring more tunes made famous by Aretha (Franklin).

The International Civil Rights Museum & Center hosted the event all summer featuring Live, smooth Jazz, and Singers. Also on the bill was Lion Tracks a Reggae band who opened the night’s entertainment. The crowd from age 30 and up I gathered. Routinely the musical happening lasts from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It’s a very chill place to meet, hang and unwind. I highly recommend it.
